Share the Bounty Grant from the Community Foundation



ELKHART, Ind. — The Community Foundation of Elkhart County has awarded the Community Sustainability Project/Goshen Farmers Market an award of $5,000 for its 2023 award cycle.


The award will help support Goshen Farmers Market's Share the Bounty Program. The Goshen Farmers Market provides a year-round market for locally grown and crafted products. A community staple for the past 21 years, the Goshen Farmers Market has continued to grow its role in the community year after year. The market provides a selling space for over 25 small businesses each week. The Community Sustainability Project will be able to further its outreach to low-income community members as a result of this grant.


“We believe that Goshen Farmers Market is another excellent example of our mission to improve the quality of life in Elkhart County by inspiring generosity,” said Pete McCown, president of the Community Foundation. “We are pleased with what they’ve presented to us and we expect them to be successful in their efforts. Goshen Farmers Market is another vital link in the chain of non-profit entities that are improving our quality of life in Elkhart County.”


About Community Sustainability Project and Goshen Farmers Market:

The Community Sustainability Project is committed to creating a viable market for locally-grown and crafted products in order to promote and educate about agricultural, environmental, economic and community sustainability.

  • Sprouts Kids Club which gives kids ages 12 under with 2-$1 tokens during Tuesday Markets. Kids can then spend their tokens on any fruit or vegetable of their choice. This program enables kids to make their own food choices, empowers them to learn where their food comes from, meet and interact with farmer, and get familiar with local food availability.

  • Share the Bounty a program that has been in place since 2008 which helps to support low-income residents through a voucher program distributed at low-income clinics including Center for Healing & Hope, Maple City Health Care, and Vista Community Health Center. The Share the Bounty program also provides matches to EBT/SNAP withdrawals when customers use their EBT benefits at the market.

  • Youth Market is offered during the summer months form June-August providing a free space for kids to sell their homemade or homegrown items.
