Goshen Farmer’s Market is closed for our annual holiday break. We will re-open January 14, 2012
at 8am. We hope that your holidays are happy and safe!
Last Saturday’s Harvest Celebration was a big success, with lots of people joining us for a morning of food, music, and friendship.
THANK YOU to Constant Spring, Rachel’s Bread, and the Electric Brew for contributing delicious refreshments for all to enjoy. We are grateful for their friendship and support! And thank you to the Hard Travelin’ Boys and Red Tail Ring, whose great music turned the market into a real party.
Thanks also to Leah Schroeder, who took some wonderful photographs of the event. You can see a slideshow of some of our favorites at our YouTube page. Enjoy!
Join us Saturday, October 22, when we will say a big “thank you” to our customers for your continuing support of the market and local farming. The fun will take place throughout regular market hours (8am to 1pm).
Enjoy:
We had a great summer season, and this is our chance to show our appreciation and give something back to our great customers. It won’t be a party without YOU, so save the date and help us celebrate!
Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has declared the second week in August to be National Farmer’s Market Week! Mayor Kauffman has proclaimed it Farmer’s Market Week in Goshen as well — you can read his proclamation here.
Since 2000, when the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) first proclaimed National Farmers Market Week, the number of farmer’s markets has grown 150%, from 2,863 in 2000 to 7,175 in 2011. As these numbers increase, farmers markets are bolstering local economies, improving community health, and bringing diverse groups of people together through a shared social space.
Goshen Farmer’s Market will be celebrating this accomplishment with door prizes & live music throughout the week. Be sure to join us!
We will give away a Goshen Farmer’s Market T-shirt at the end of every Tuesday market for the rest of the summer. Stop by from3pm to 7pm on Tuesdays to register to win yours! Our winners to-date are listed below . . . congratulations to all!
Enjoy a ‘virtual tour’ of three of the Market’s farms:
All three farms are so pretty in person that the pictures hardly do them justice… but they’ll give you a taste of the love and effort that goes into bringing your food to market! Click to view the slideshow.

Have you ever wished you could visit the farms where your food is grown? Well, here’s your chance! The cost is only $15 per adult and $5 per child, and includes lunch at the Goshen College cafeteria. To register or find out more, contact Jennifer Schrock at jenniferhs@goshen.edu or 260.799.5869.
